Hurricane Plans!
When creating a home-safety hurricane emergency plan, you should probably make a disaster supply kit. It should consist of:
- First Aid Kit
- Medications
- Canned food plus the opener
- At least 3 gallons of safe water for each person.
- Clothing
- Flashlight
- AM/FM radio with extra batteries
- Any other items that may be necessary for your family
Put all of these items in a large bag, and have it so you can access it anytime you want. You should also have an evacuation plan. The evacuation plan should include a map of where you would go, what you would take, etc. if a dangerous hurricane came your way. There is a big difference between a hurricane WATCH and a hurricane WARNING. A watch is a
possibility that a hurricane is going to hit in the next 36 hours. When a watch is occurring, you should get all of your supplies together, and keep watching or listening to a radio or television for updates or information on the hurricane. During a warning, there is a very high chance that the hurricane is going to hit your area in the next 24 hours. Listen to any advice that the news is giving you, and get all of your family members into a safe place.
